What are the library hours?
The library is opened Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday - Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where is the library located?
The Library is located at 550 Discovery Blvd. Discovery Blvd. is the first stop light south of the FM 1431-US Hwy 183 intersection. The Library is located on the east side of U.S. Hwy 183.

What is the library telephone number?
The library telephone number is (512) 401-5600.

What do I need to do to get a library card?
If you live inside the taxing districts of Cedar Park, you may obtain a library card without additional charge. You need to bring a valid photo ID and proof of your current Cedar Park address. Acceptable forms of identification are a driver's license, Texas Department of Public Safety ID, U. S. Passport, Resident Alien Registration Card or military, college or employee photo ID. Acceptable proof of address includes any of the above listed items, if address is included. A personalized check or bank statement, recent billing statements, voter's registration, vehicle registration or liability insurance, official rent receipt, rental agreement or other housing contract may also be used for proof of address. If you are not a resident of Cedar Park, the library will charge a fee of $35.00 per year per card or $20.00 per six months per card.

What is the TexShare Card program?
The TexShare Card program is a cooperative program designed to improve library service to Texans. TexShare focuses on the efficient sharing of library holdings, with an emphasis on electronic information resources and traditional collections of books and journals. Can you get books from other libraries?
Yes, the library participates in an Interlibrary Loan Program that allows us to borrow materials from libraries throughout the nation. The library charges $2.50 for postage for each item ordered.

How long does it take to get a book from other libraries?
It takes about 7 to 10 days to get materials from other libraries, but there may be exceptions.

What are the loan periods of library materials?
Books and audio cassettes/CDs are checked out for two weeks. Magazines, music CDs, and DVDs are checked out for one week. Artwork is checked out for 4 weeks.

How many times do you allow a patron to renew a book?
A patron can renew a book as many as five times provided that the book is not reserved to another patron.

Can I renew books on the Internet?
Yes, the Library provides multiple options for patrons to renew their materials in person, online and by telephone. However the patrons library card must not be blocked as a result of estimated fines and/or bills totaling more than $5.00. In order to renew, you will need your user ID# and password (PIN). Once you have these, visit the online library catalog. Log-in to the e-library OPAC and select “My Account” , then select “Renew my Materials”. However, due to the occasional unpredictability of Internet availability, we are not able to guarantee that a person will be able to renew online. If our online renewal is not available, or if your IP is not connecting, it is the patron's responsibility to bring the item(s) to the library or to telephone the library for renewal during open hours at 512-401-5600 ext. zero.

Do you allow patrons to renew books on the phone?
Renewal is allowed over the telephone, however the patrons library card must not be blocked as a result of estimated fines and/or bills totaling more than $5.00. The Library complies with the Texas Government Code Section 552.124 to protect the privacy of Library Patrons: you will be asked to provide your Driver's License number to verify your identity when you call for information on your account.

Does the Library carry eBooks or eAudiobooks?
Yes, the Library provides access to Digital Content collections including downloadable eaudiobooks, ebooks, music and video as a free service for our library patrons. All you need is a current Library account in good standing (less than $5 in bills). The checkout period is 14 days for ebooks, 7 days for audiobooks. After it expires, the item will automatically check itself back in, so there are never overdue fees.

How much does the library charge for overdue materials?
For books and magazines, the library provides a three-day grace period. Materials not returned within the grace period are fined 10 cents per day. Fines begin with the due date. The maximum fine is $7.00 per book or magazine.

There is no grace period for audio cassettes/CDs, music CDs or DVDs. Fines are $1.00 per day for audio cassettes/CDs, music CDs and DVDS. The maximum fine for these items is $15.00.

There is no grace period for overdue Artwork. Fines are $1.00 per day and the maximum fine for Artwork is $30.00.

What will be the charge if I lost a book?
If a book is lost (or damaged beyond repair), the patron is charged the replacement cost plus a $7.00 processing fee. If the cost is unknown, a flat fee of $30.00 per hardback book, $8.00 per paperback book and $20.00 per videos/DVD is charged plus the processing fee.

What are the cost of other damaged materials?
Damage fees will be assessed item by item, based on established library procedures.

What are the community support groups of the library?
There are two community support groups of the library. They are the Friends of the Cedar Park Public Library and the Cedar Park Public Library Foundation.

The Friends of the Cedar Park Public Library supports and strengthens the library's resources and services to the public and to the business community. It also promotes public recognition of the library and encourages Cedar Park citizens to support their library. The organization is separate from the library, but works cooperatively with the Library Director, professional staff and volunteers to achieve the library's goals.

The Cedar Park Public Library Foundation mission is to assist the Cedar Park Public Library in achieving excellence and to develop business and community support through financial assistance for library initiatives. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer board with no paid members. All donations are tax deductible and directly benefit the library.

What kind of databases do we have?
Through the Texas State Library and Central Texas Library System, the library can access many databases that can help patrons with their personal, academic and professional research. The TexShare databases are free to citizens of Texas but a login and password is required. They are available at the library’s information desk. Once you have the login and password, you can access the TexShare databases from any internet access terminal.

Does the library have meeting rooms?
The Library has a Community Room and Conference Room that can be reserved in advance, as well as a Group Study Room that is available on a first-come first-serve basis. See Meeting Room Use for details and rates.

How many magazine subscriptions does the library have and does the library keep back issues of newspapers and magazines?
The library subscribes to almost 200 magazines and newspapers. The library keeps two weeks back issues of newspapers and two years back issues of most magazines. See Newspapers & Periodicals.

Does the library take book donations?
The library takes books, DVDs, books-on-tape/CD, and music CDs if they are in good condition. Since information, especially in the science disciplines, goes quickly out-of-date, the staff will determine the accuracy and timeliness of donated materials. Materials that are duplicates of what we have or are outdated will be put in book sales that are sponsored by the Friends of the Cedar Park Public Library.

What is my User ID?
Your User ID is a number derived from your library card. On the back of the card, you will find a barcode and a 14-digit number with 999 in the middle. Take the 2nd and 3rd 9 and then next 5 digits and that will be your user ID.

What is my PIN?
Your PIN is a number which you select when your Patron account is created. It is a 4-digit number used in conjunction with the user ID to renew or place items on hold online. For security reasons, the circulation staff cannot see a patron’s PIN. Therefore, if you lose or forget your PIN you willl need to have a new PIN created for you by library staff.

What are the cost of computer printouts, copy machine copies, and faxes?
Computer printouts: $0.25 per page for black & white copies; $1.00 per page for color copies.
Coin-operated copy machine copies: $0.25 per page for black & white copies; $1.00 per page for color copies.
Fax transmissions: Incoming – $1.00 per page; Outgoing, local - $1.00 per page, including cover page; Outgoing, long-distance (within the United States) - $3.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. No international faxes will be sent.
