Grants and Awards Received
Since its inception in 1981, the Library has received many financial grants and awards. Their significance in helping the Library to develop to its current stage is undeniable. Noteworthy grants that have been received by the Library or the Library Foundation (established in 1995) are listed below:
- In 1981, the Library received $2,260.50 from the J. Frank Dobie Library Trust Award for the purchase of books; it also received a Texas Heritage Resource Center award.
- In 1984, the Library received a PC computer, software and furniture from the Central Texas Library System to be used at the Library.
- In 1985, the Library received $30,000 to be paid in three years from the Cedar Park H.E.B. Grocery Store. The money was to be used for a new building.
- In 1987, the Library working with the Friends of the Library received $3,667 from the Gannett Foundation for equipment and books.
- In 1988, the Library received $10,000 from Lakeline Development Company for Library construction.
- In 1989, the Library received a $100,000 matching fund from the Federal Government’s Library Services and Construction Act Title II grant. The City of Cedar Park matched the $100,000 and provided money for furniture.
- In 1989, a piece of land, 1 ½ acres, was donated by the Lomas Realty USA for the construction of a permanent Cedar Park Public Library at 550 Discovery Blvd. The construction of the new Library was completed in September 1990.
- In 1990, a $3,000 grant was awarded by Chevron USA, Inc. for a science book collection.
- In 1990, $3,500 worth of computer equipment was donated from IBM Corporation.
- In 1990, Austin CableVision (currently called Time Warner Cable) contributed $2,000 worth of audio-visual equipment and a pledge of $10,000 cash donations for the following years (at least $1,000 each year to date).
- In 1993, a $2,000 adult literacy grant from the Central Texas Library System;
- 1992-1994, $12,000 from the local H.E.B. Store for children’s collection development.
- In 1995, through the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce, the Library received a grant from Southwestern Bell to start a small business resource center.
- 1995-1997, $3,000 from Albertsons over the three years.
- 1996-1998, $5,000 from 3M over the three years.
- In 1996, the Library working with Austin Freenet received a grant from the Texas State Library to install three internet access computers for the public.
- In 1996, the Library received a $2,000 Texas Book Festival grant.
- In 1996, the Library received a $3,144 Tocker Foundation grant for a word processing computer station.
- 1996 and 1997, $10,000 from Motorola, Inc. over the two years.
- In 1997, the Library received a $2,844 Tocker Foundation grant for reference books.
- In 1998, the Library received a $41,900 Tocker Foundation grant for furniture.
- In 1999, the Library received a $74,973 Telecommunication Infrastructure Fund Board grant for network and computer equipment and software.
- In 1999, HEB pledged $5,000 plus a promise to donate $1.00 for each book it sold at the book drive. Final total from HEB was $7,700.
- In 1999, the Library received $5,000 from the Dell Foundation.
- In 1999, $5,000 from the Rotary International through the Cedar Park Rotary, to purchase tutorial materials.
- In 1999, $5,000 from the Seawell Elam Foundation to purchase large print books.
- In 2000, the Library received a $72,484 from the Telecommunication Infrastructure Fund Board for Internet Access computers, Internet Access Service, equipment and staff training.
- In 2001 and 2003, the Library received $1,000 from the Cedar Park Wal-Mart each year and $2,000 from Time Warner Cable in 2001.
- In 2002, Time Warner donated Road Runner and Wireless Service to the Library.
- In the following two years, the Library received $5,774 and $5,331 from the Loan Star Libraries Grant.
- In 2003-2004, the Library and the Library Foundation received a Dell’s Literate Community Grant in the amount of $50,000 for two years.
- In 2004 the Library received a Highsmith Library Award for innovative programs and $1,000.
- In 2004, the Library Foundation receives $3,528 from the Austin Community Foundation to purchase the Giftmaker Pro Software.
- In 2004, the Library received another $1,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
- In 2004-2005, the Library received $5,671 from the Loan Star Libraries Grant Award form the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
- In 2005-2006, the Library and the Library Foundation received a second Dell’s Literate Community Grant in the amount of $50,000 for two years.

In 2005-2006, a Loan Star Libraries Grant in the amount of $5,740 was awarded by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. In addition, the Library Foundation raised over $150,000 from its annual Bull’s-Eye Bash event beginning 1996 to help supplement the funding of the Library. Grants less than $1,000 are not listed above.

In 2006, the Library received a $3,000 Texas Reads Grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) for the teen book club.

In 2007, the Library received a $2,500 grant from the Texas Book Festival.

In 2007, the Library Foundation received a $1,000 grant from Dollar General.

In 2007, the Library Foundation received $1,500 from Target for children's programs.

In 2007, the Library received $5,769 from the Loan Star Libraries Grant.

In 2008, the Library received $12,373 from the Loan Star Libraries Grant.

In 2007-2008, the Library Foundation received a third Dell's Literate Community Grant in the amount of $50,000.

In 2008, the Library received a $1,500 Texas Reads Grant from the TSLAC for the teen book club.

In 2009, the Library received $12,167 from the Loan Star Libraries Grant.

In 2008-2010, the Library Foundation received another $50,000 grant from the Dell's Literate Community grant.

In 2009, the Library Foundation received a $10,000 grant for Ready to Read, an Early Literacy Grant from the United Way of Williamson County.

In 2009 The Library received a $3000 Texas Book Festival Grant.

In 2010 the Library received its 5th cycle of $50,000 Dell Foundation’s Literate Community Grant.

In 2010, the Library received a $10,000 Open Grant from the Dell Foundation to implement its 2nd annual Cedar Park Reads Program.

In 2010, the Library received $13063 from the Loan Star Libraries Grant awarded by the Texas State Library.

In 2011, the Library received a $29,930 Dell Powering the Possible Grant for computer classes to underserved youths.
In addition, the Library Foundation raised over $150,000 from its annual Bull’s-Eye Bash event beginning 1996 to help supplement the funding of the Library. Grants less than $1,000 are not listed above.
