Police Officer Killed in Motorcycle Accident
On Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at approx. 3:18PM, Officer Leonard Reed was on duty and involved in a single vehicle motorcycle collision in the 1200 Blk. of Arrow Point Drive in Cedar Park. Officer Reed sustained significant internal injuries and was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Officer Reed was a 4 year police veteran and had just recently transferred to the Traffic Enforcement Division. He had been participating in a training ride with a motorcycle training officer in preparation for the next available Police Motorcycle Officer Certification course when the accident occurred.
Officer Reed is survived by his wife and two sons. Officer Reed was named Officer of the Year in 2008.
